Cranbrook, Kent

setting A pretty Wealden oast house sitting in a country lane.
requirement To replace heavy cypress trees shading and hiding the house from the lane.
considerations Negotiation required with planning and highways departments.
solution The cypress trees were replaced with a formal line of pleached lime trees to create some visual privacy from the lane while allowing light into the house. Negotiations were held with planning and highways departments to change the vehicular access into the property which allowed the creation of a courtyard entrance space into the house.
